Backsheets on the underside of photovoltaic cells need to maintain their white color for several years to reflect sun light passing through the cells back onto the semi-conductor. Terblend® S provides sufficient weathering resistance and color fastness to maintain the efficiency of a photovoltaic cell even under adversarial outdoor conditions for years.
The incredible aesthetic qualities of Luran® S were decisive in the creation of Wegalux – a thermoplastic tile containing a photovoltaic cell that blends harmoniously with terracotta roofs. The pre-colored solution saved Wegaplast both time and costs while the strong UV stability prevents aging and yellowing.
Optimized for wind turbines, many Luran® S materials such as Luran® S 757 G, Luran® S 778 TE and Luran® S 797 SE, offer key benefits like superior weatherability and stiffness, as well as low processing temperatures, low specific gravity and low moisture absorption. Due to a good balance of impact strength and flowability, these materials are ideally suited for injection molded and extruded wind turbine applications.
