- Solutions address demands in automotive, healthcare, household, electronics, construction and packaging industries
- Increased production capacity in the region gives customers more flexibility
- New StyLight composite is one of the highlights
INEOS Styrolution, the global leader in styrenics, announces today a range of new solutions it will exhibit at its booth J70 at the Feiplastic International Plastics Trade Fair in Sao Paulo, Brazil (April, 22-26, 2019). The company’s participation at the event signals its ongoing commitment to the Americas region. Investments into a capacity increase of ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene) and ASA (acrylonitrile styrene acrylate) in the region are yet another indication of the company’s commitment to providing customers with increased flexibility and serving them with best in class materials making them competitive in their respective markets.
At the INEOS Styrolution booth at Feiplastic, visitors can expect to learn about a range of new applications for industries such as automotive, healthcare, household, electronics, construction and packaging. Exhibited applications are provided by local INEOS Styrolution customers as well as international brands working with INEOS Styrolution materials.
Automotive: Both, interior and exterior applications for cars and trucks based on various ABS grades will be exhibited at the INEOS Styrolution booth. Interior applications include a seat belt cover (material: Novodur® Ultra 4255) and a loudspeaker grill (Terblend® NM-21EF). Exterior applications include a blow molded roof spoiler (Novodur® HH-112).
Of particular interest in the automotive industry are Novodur® Ultra 4255, material of choice for interior applications, and innovative scratch-resistant Luran® HH-120, material of choice for demanding exterior automotive applications.
Healthcare: Exhibits demonstrate the flexibility of styrenics across a broad range of medical applications. Offerings include optimised materials for IV systems and fluid delivery applications (Styrolux® SBC and Styrolution PS), respiratory and drug delivery devices (Terlux® HD 2802 and Novodur® HD) and air filter housings (Styrolux® 656C).
New materials dedicated to the healthcare industry include the SBC based medical drip chamber material Styrolux® 4G60 as well as Styroflex® 4G80, which was specifically designed for medical tubing applications.
Construction: Pipe modification with INEOS Styrolution’s Luran® HH-120 is just one example for the contribution of styrenics to the building industry.
The styrenics portfolio for the construction industry also includes specialised materials for window facades, window spacers and roller blinds as well as Novodur® P2MC for chromeplating, e.g. for fittings and shower heads.
Household & Electronics: Sparkling clarity, flowability, ease of processing and scratch resistance are some of the key properties of NAS® 30, making it an attractive material for household goods. Exhibited on the INEOS Styrolution booth will be a bowl set provided by a leading European manufacturer of household goods.
An exquisite bottle cooler, made with the same material, is another exhibit showcasing the properties of NAS® 30.
Packaging: Exhibited packaging solutions will range from a squeeze bottle dedicated to contain honey or other condiments (Styrolux®/ Zylar®) to a case for pens (Zylar® 550). Both solutions excel with a high level of clarity, unique flow properties and superior processability.
A mini palette supporting various goods and wrapped in a Styroflex® 2G 66 film rounds up the packaging exhibits. The Styroflex® film provides excellent stretch recovery, superior transparency and puncture resistance, high oxygen and moisture permeability.
INEOS Styrolution’s composite StyLight® is a special highlight that will be exhibited at the INEOS Styrolution booth. The StyLight® portfolio has recently been increased to range from a “standard” PP (polypropylene) or SAN (styrene acrylonitrile copolymer) glass fiber composite suitable for non-visible structural applications to an aesthetic composite based on a modified PP, up to a SAN based carbon composite for premium aesthetic surfaces.
Visitors are invited to spend time with INEOS Styrolution experts to explore the best material for their new designs.
INEOS Styrolution executives will also be available to discuss the company’s ambitious plans aiming at circularity for styrenics to save valuable resources, recycle styrenic waste and reduce the ecological footprint. The company’s efforts include research projects, collaboration across the value chain and partnerships with customers to optimise solutions concerning sustainability aspects.
“In INEOS Styrolution’s Triple Shift growth strategy, the America’s region has been identified as a growth region for the company,” comments Alexander Glueck, President Americas. “We currently build a new 100kt capacity ASA plant in Bayport, USA, that our customers will benefit from. Also, the new facility will unleash additional ABS capacity at our existing site in Altamira, Mexico. The capacity expansion intends to meet the growing demand for styrenic polymers in the region, enabling us to support our customers’ growth plans.”
