  • Novodur SBM-90: Drinking water approved according to WRAS, KTW, W270 and ACS
  • Novodur SBM-90: Complies with new stricter regulations related to potable water contact
  • Novodur SBM-90: Drop-in solution for applications in direct contact with drinking water

INEOS Styrolution, the global leader in styrenics, announced today its Novodur® SBM-90 to be the material of choice for applications requiring potable water approval.

Stricter regulations related to potable water contact will come into effect in March 2021.

A range of materials will not comply anymore with the new regulations as represented by the German W270[1], or other major European potable water certifications such as KTW[2], WRAS[3] (in UK) and ACS[4] (in France), while Novodur SBM-90 continues to be drinking water approved.

Novodur SBM-90 is a drop-in replacement for ABS[5] dedicated to a broad range of applications including such requiring drinking water approval and/ or food contact approval. The material offers the same general property profile and the same appearance of previously used ABS materials, thus allowing for the same processing.

Typical applications for Novodur SBM-90 are shower heads, drinking vessels and other applications in direct contact with drinking water.

Novodur SBM-90 can be used for moulded parts directly in contact with potable water and allows the option of chromeplating.

Stefan Röttel, Business Development Manager at INEOS Styrolution, comments: “We recommend to customers to take advantage of the unique properties of Novodur SBM-90. The material offers a plug-in solution for customers that are required to replace an existing copolymer because it no longer meets regulatory requirements.”
