INEOS Styrolution donates €10,000 to "Deutsche Leukämie-Forschungshilfe – Aktion für krebskranke Kinder" in Mannheim

The COVID-19 pandemic puts a significant additional burden on children with cancer and their families. To help them during these difficult times, INEOS Styrolution has donated €10,000 to the “Deutsche Leukämie-Forschungshilfe – Aktion für krebskranke Kinder, OV Mannheim e.V.”. This association, located in Mannheim across the river Rhine from the INEOS Styrolution site, is dedicated to helping families with a child that suffers from leukemia.
The association offers a wide range of services to impacted families including arts and music therapies, entertainment for children in hospital, the “Elternhaus”, an environment near the child cancer ward that allows families to stay close to their child during therapy, and many more[1]. A special programme called Rosys Kids Corner is dedicated to making visits to the local ice-hockey team possible for the children.
Dr. Gregor von Komorowski, Chairman of the association: “Every year, about 2,000 children in Germany are diagnosed with leukemia. In 1979, we founded our organization to help children and their families. We are excited about every donation, in particular right now when our patients and their families are suffering in addition from the Coronavirus.”
Stefan Kaminsky, INEOS Styrolution’s Site Director in Ludwigshafen, adds: “With COVID-19 adding on to the challenges, we are glad that the INEOS Community Fund enabled us to support this very worthy initiative. The work of this organization is simply amazing.”
The £1m INEOS Community Fund was established by INEOS Chairman Sir Jim Ratcliffe in March 2020 in tandem with the company’s Covid-19 “Hands On” campaign, which set up new production lines to provide millions of bottles of free hand sanitiser per month to hospitals and frontline healthcare. The fund enables INEOS sites across the world to support the charitable organisations doing vital work in their local communities at this particularly difficult time.
