• Two organizations building opportunities for underfunded and underrepresented youth in STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) fields, receive grants totaling $10,000 from INEOS Styrolution

Nonprofit organizations, Mission Fulfilled 2030 and Project Exploration, are making impacts across communities by investing in today’s youth, to create tomorrow’s high-tech workforce in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and math.

INEOS Styrolution contributed donations totaling $10,000 to Mission Fulfilled 2030 and Project Exploration, aiding in the funding of their STEM mentorship and education programs for youth within communities historically underrepresented in STEM fields.

Gerald A. Moore Sr. executive director and engineer, Mission Fulfilled 2030, says, “Black men make up less than 5% of the high-tech and STEM workforce. Black males make up less than 2% of the public school workforce; therefore, we have a visible representation gap in the workforce and the education system. This is where Mission Fulfilled 2030 can fill the gap. By creating programs that will develop untapped diverse talent from underrepresented communities and present a face in the community where our education system falls short. Partnerships with companies like INEOS Styrolution and Mission Fulfilled 2030 are important to the GDP of the country as we are in a deficit of tech/STEM talent. Together, we can create opportunities where everyone wins.” Mr. Moore continues, “The Mission Fulfilled 2030 team would like to thank INEOS Styrolution for their generosity and making a $5,000 investment in the success of our programs. It’s important at this time for private corporate entities to support Black male achievement organizations.”

Launched in 1999, Project Exploration is a Chicago-based, nonprofit science education and youth development organization, created to address inequities in access to high-quality STEM opportunities. Annually, Project Exploration serves approximately 700 Chicago Public School youth from kindergarten through 12th grade in communities historically underrepresented in STEM. They create transformative learning opportunities for youth in the sciences — particularly students of color and girls — by equipping them with the skills, practices, and mindset needed for a lifelong pursuit of learning.

Kelli Beyer-Patel, deputy director for Project Exploration says, "We are tremendously grateful for this gift of $5000. This will allow Project Exploration to continue to serve our students with free hands-on, minds-on, high-quality STEM education. This is especially important as we resume in-person programs as the need is greater than ever for advocates for youth underrepresented in STEM.”
