  • INEOS Styrolution continues to offer customised high quality solutions for the construction industry
  • Optimised combination of properties ideal for in-building ABS piping application
  • Material surpasses ISO 9080:2012[1] hydrostatic strength testing

INEOS Styrolution, the global leader in styrenics, announces today its high impact Novodur® 530[2] to be an excellent solution for in-building piping application. Being an ABS extrusion grade, this material combines a well-balanced mix of properties needed to fulfill the demanding hydrostatic pressure testing requirements under ISO 9080:2012 for in-building ABS piping application.

Novodur 530 combines high impact strength, high modulus and good thermoforming stability, offering pipe manufacturers a friendly processing window. In addition, its high hydrostatic strength (ISO 9080:2012) guarantees long term performance (up to 50 years) for the in-building piping application.

“There are many requirements for an in-building ABS piping application for the construction industry. In order to be certified against ISO 9080:2012, the material must be able to withstand 9,000 hours of long term hydrostatic pressure testing,” says Eric Xu, Asia Pacific Lead, Construction, INEOS Styrolution. “INEOS Styrolution’s Novodur 530 is certified to withstand even 10,000 hours of long term hydrostatic pressure testing and is recognised by the industry as one of the best materials for this application.”

Apart from the in-building pipe application, Novodur 530 is also used for other applications, including home appliances, automotive and helmets.

[1] ISO 9080:2012 specifies a method for predicting the long-term hydrostatic strength of thermoplastics materials by statistical extrapolation. This method is applicable to all types of thermoplastics pipe at applicable temperatures.
